More on DPD

DPD was founded in 1977 and is a German company now owned by Geopost which is a subsidiary of La Poste, France’s national postal service. In their first year of trading they shipped 1.4 million parcels, and by 1980 this number reached 7 million. Today DPD ship more than 2 million parcels per day across their network and have more than 800 depots in 40 countries. DPD specialise in road delivery across Europe, but also offer intercontinental parcel delivery through their partner network. In recent years DPD have introduced and expanded their network of “pick up shops”, these are collection points that allow end users to collect their parcels at a time more convenient to them and saves them the hassle of waiting at home for the courier to deliver. Having said that, DPD have recently introduced their “predict” SMS service, that informs the end user of the likely delivery time window of their parcel which can range between 3 hours, and 15 minutes. DPD is a smart choice for the budget conscious sender.
